Description
An attractive Chinese vase, made from soft paste porcelain, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the early Qianlong period c 1740-1760. The vase is of ovoid, fluted form and is decorated to the front with prunus, peony, bamboo and chrysanthemum emerging from ornamental rockwork. The reverse of the vase is painted with two butterflies amongst scattered flowerheads. The foot is decorated with a row of flowerheads. As is typical of soft paste items, the glaze is creamy white and lightly crackled. Height 13.2cm (5.2")
Dating: Qianlong c 1740 - 1760
Condition
This vase is in excellent condition. There are a few small glaze frits at the rim (see images), but no chips, cracks or restoration.
